Elizabeth & Matthew: Irish Castle Wedding
Elizabeth and Matthew flew from their home state of Virginia to tie the knot at Dromoland Castle in County Clare. They first met and fell in love in Donegal, they then got engaged in historic Ashford Castle so it was only fitting that they chose to get married on our lovely Emerald Isle.
They knew from the start they wanted to include some Irish elements into their wedding stationery but in a subtle way with a vintage vibe. After brainstorming with our Art Director, Aiblhe, they chose an oil painting of the scene where Matthew popped the question at the medieval Ashford Castle. The painting was printed on ivory double thick paper, to add the finishing touch and tie in an Irish twist, gold foil was letterpressed into the top corner asking their guests to join them on the Emerald Isle.
The main feature that was carried through all of their wedding stationery was their gorgeous family heraldry inspired crest. The crest tied in elements from both of their family crests that resulted in a one of a kind crest celebrating their two families coming together.
The pocketfold invitation was inspired by our art director, Ailbhe's own 'toile de Jouy' wedding invitation. Elizabeth told Ailbhe all the details of the couples dreamy love story which was then used as the base for her illustrations. Some of these included their first meeting when they were both studying in Donegal, exploring Knock and their love of Celtic Irish traditions.
Elisabeth went with the colour combination of sand and taupe for her letterpressed pocketfold invitations. A poem written by Bridget O'Donnell was scattered amongst the illustrations on the outside of the invitation, adding to their perfect love story theme.
Both the couple and their close friends would be able to pick subtle little symbols in scenes that represent them as a couple. The result was a beautiful story wedding invitation that was truly unique to them as a couple.
We love how Elizabeth & Matthew used their custom wedding crest throughout all of the paper goods!
