Design Diaries: Dark Blooms
Welcome to our new series; The Design Diaries. In this series, we will be talking about the inspiration behind our designs.
Today, we've chosen to chat about 'Dark Blooms', one of the latest editions to our Signature Wedding Invitation Range. This invitation suite was created for a styled shoot, 'Her Dark Materials' in early 2017. Our designer was asked to create something dark yet beautiful and that is exactly what she did.
A dark background was used showcase the moodiness of the invitation and create a dramatic vibe, hand painted illustrations of blush pink peonies were then used to create a softer feel. This resulted in a delicate contrast between light and dark. The bride and grooms names in modern typography add a whimsical feel to the whole suite.
Instead of using a traditional monogram, our designer choose to separate the couples initials with the initial of the brides first name at the top and the grooms at the bottom. The initials are placed together in a very simple monogram on the reverse of the invitation celebrating the coming together of marriage. More and more couples are choosing to use monograms to personalise their invitations suites and we just love this take on the trend!
For the menu, a single line gold border and a blush pink handpainted peonie were added to the menu, tying all the wedding stationery together.
